About these guides

These guides are published by the usual neXt, the team behind TholusOS. They cover everyday media-server operation, projector calibration, guided school experiences, MCP-assisted authoring, games and settings. Technical explainers also cover principles that apply to other immersive projection systems.

This first guide set accompanies TholusOS 1.1.16 and was reviewed on 22 October 2026. Connected MCP services can change independently of the Mac app, so their guides describe the current service workflow and the conditions needed for a local result.

Availability depends on the installed version, licence, connected equipment and the status shown in the app. Features labelled beta should be rehearsed on the intended installation. A documented setting does not establish that every Mac, projector, video controller or camera combination has been qualified.

How should you use the technical explanations?

Section titled “How should you use the technical explanations?”

Use the technical articles to understand a problem, choose what to measure and recognise a plausible result. Then use the product guide for the controls and checks that apply to TholusOS.

Sources are linked close to the concepts they support. Calculations and examples are explanatory unless explicitly identified as a measurement. A desktop preview checks one part of the workflow; optical alignment, audience visibility, sound coverage and controller response require a rehearsal in the actual venue.

Each page carries its own update date. A change to a workflow should update the relevant instructions, prerequisites and troubleshooting together, so an older screenshot or example does not become the only description of a newer feature.

The initial publication is in English. Additional languages will be added when their content is ready. The guided school editor has dedicated authoring and session guides.

How can you report a correction or request help?

Section titled “How can you report a correction or request help?”

Send the page URL, the app version and the step that needs clarification through the usual neXt contact page. Describe the result you expected and what you observed. For hardware questions, include the relevant model and connection layout.

Do not include passwords, API keys, tokens or identifying information about pupils. The TholusOS product page describes the current offer and support arrangements.
